Manuel’s Tavern: 602 North Highland Avenue Northeast Atlanta, GA 30307

Not to sound like a weirdo, or a completely bucket of lard, but I love BAR food. Seeing as I can’t drink, the fried sides are still a huge incentive for me to go and meet people at bars. Luckily, on the day I went  (the pictures featured below) a friend was celebrating his birthday at a bar called Manuel’s Tavern.

I’m not sure if you’ve heard about Manuel’s Tavern, but if you’re a die hard Democrat or a Liberal or even just voted for Obama — you should go and check it out. There is always an interesting crowd of  liberal people there and food is actually really good. My former boss, loved Manuel’s Tavern. He not only complimented the food, but he complimented the way the establishment was run, saying that the owner really cared about his regulars and his workers.

The owner, who has now passed away, apparently set up IRAs (individual retirement accounts) for his employees, he made sure that women who were regulars weren’t barked at or mistreated by men who came to the bar, and he even once employed the owner of Taqueria Del Sol (WHICH IS MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT EVER)!

My first time at Manuel’s is featured below. My BFF ordered, jalapeño poppers, mozzarella sticks, burgers, & wings (THANK YOU)! I definitely inhaled a portion of it!  I will definitely go back — but I’m currently living out my “fat stage” so I need to chill out for a while or at least for 2 or 3 months before I can start consuming this without spending HOURS at the gym the same day or the next day.

Pretty good burger 7 out of 10. It’s no Bocado burger (10/10) — but still I enjoyed it!
