Gardein: Seven Grain Crispy Tenders (Meatless)

I was at Publix a week or two ago and came across these meatless chicken tenders. I’m a sucker for tenders, nuggets and wings, but for some odd reason, if I’m going to prepare frozen tenders myself, I would rather them be meatless, because I, frankly, great freaked out by the chicken used by the manufacturer (how old is this frozen product? was the chicken used all hormoned up? the list goes on and on).

Anyways, I sincerely enjoyed these vegetarian friendly tenders, and would definitely purchase them again! Two tenders amounts to 100 calories (I just had 5 for lunch– 250 calorie lunch for the WIN!)

I hope you check them out!

I wear Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer in SX08

Hey Ladies,

This is my little personal letter to you. I was trying to avoid GA Bar studying today, so I naturally hopped on Facebook. As I scrolled through my newsfeed, which consists of many Indian girls, I noticed that so many of them have such bad bags / dark circles (FYI, I am definitely one of those girls with extremely dark circles, even when I sleep for 10 hours – it’s genetic, hyper pigmentation around that area – I know).  What was a tad confusing, was the fact, these girls wear make up, they just did not want to highlight and brighten their under eyes (which to me is like straightening half of your hair and leaving the other half curly/wavy/nappy). I don’t know why they wouldn’t want to conceal their dark circles, but I’ve basically told myself that the reason they’re not taking care of the problem is:

(1) They don’t know they have the problem; and/or

(2) They don’t know how to solve the problem.

How to assess whether you have this problem: get a mirror & look at your face. Is the skin directly under your eye darker than your cheeks? If yes, then you need to focus on concealing the under eye  area when you’re doing you’re makeup.

Don’t fret. I am here for you girl! First off, you need real concealer. The liquid  or cream stuff will work.  The powder concealers are not going to solve your problem (example: using Bare Minerals or Bare Essentials loose powder in a concentrated way, will not help conceal your bags). I would suggest Kevin Aucoin’s Sensual Skin Enhancer or  MAC Pro Longwear concealers.  These two are both THICK concealers that should do the trick.

As stated, I have dark circles under my eyes, I like the MAC Pro Longwear for daytime and I like the Kevin Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer for nighttime, going out, date night, dinner with friends, any evening event  or event where I want to step it up and look my best.

Kevin Aucoin’s Sensual Skin Enhancer is relatively expensive ($48 @ Bloomingdales) , BUT it will last you a long time. To set the concealer (which is a MUST) I use Ben Nye’s Banana Powder (feel free to use any translucent powder you own).

Just remember, you have beautiful eyes — so show them off girl.

Any questions? I’d love to answer them!  Also, what’s your favorite concealer? Confused about how to apply concealer just YouTube it!

XOXO

Starbucks to reimburse 2 years of online college classes

Investing in their employees! FTW

Eatocracy

Starbucks baristas working through college are about to get an extra boost from their employer.

The company announced it will offer both full- and part-time employees a generous tuition reimbursement benefit that covers two full years of classes.

The benefit is through a partnership with Arizona State University’s online studies program. Employees can choose any of more than 40 undergraduate degrees, and aren’t limited to only business classes.

It’s yet another unconventional move from the upscale coffee retailer. Starbucks bucked the trend, for example, when it continued offering health insurance for both full- and part-time employees as other companies dialed back offerings and blamed Obamacare.

“Chandelier” by Sia

I was driving back from the gym 3 days ago, when I heard this song on the radio. I was immediately taken aback by a few of the lyrics, and I knew I wanted to YouTube the song, while also checking out the lyrics (since if you know me, I’m obsessed with lyrics & quotes).

My immediate impression of the song was enhanced by watching the music video. Maddie Ziegler (the dancer, who was featured on Dance Moms) does an INCREDIBLE JOB. Wow. The song goes into depth about a party girl, who is called for a good time, and apparently has invisible friends. She lives for today, “like tomorrow doesn’t exist, like it doesn’t exist.” A shallow existence, where she is exposed and doesn’t want to accept that tomorrow will arrive and that she will be alone. She puts on this act for everyone like a puppet.

At the end of the song, I basically feel bad for these “party girls.” I wish I could say I didn’t know any, but I think we all, tragically, know a few (or a few who has characteristics of the party girl described in the song).

I, obviously, really enjoyed the song, and, more so, the music video.

Olay Total Effects Night Firming Treatment (Currently Loving This!)

Image

I wish my blog were popular enough for me to get endorsements or free stuff, because I have seriously been spending way to much of my law school graduation gift funds on beauty products. Not only do I buy these products, but then I end up doing reviews for all my friends, family, and fellow WordPress bloggers – so yeah, it would be nice if I could spend my funds in other areas, but alas, I am a beauty connoisseur. #junkie.

In the middle of May I purchased Olay Total Effects Night Firming Cream, and I must say, I absolutely LOVE IT. I love the way it smells, and I love the current condition of my skin. I am 25 so my skin aging or having fine lines is not a real concern yet, but having an even skin tone and clearing up imperfections (dark spots & acne scars) and just giving me soft, pretty looking skin, is something I really love.

After wearing the night treatment for a month, I woke up this morning washed my face and looked in the mirror and said “Why do I wear so much foundation? This is looking good.” LOL.  I then proceeded out of my bathroom and made some coffee and started my Kaplan Bar Review videos. I wanted to wait till I finished my Bar Review videos to blog about the product, but I seriously can’t contain myself with how happy I am with the results!

Things I love about it:

  1. The results. Duh. I would say about one week in I noticed that this was actually working, and now 4 weeks in I’m clearly head over heels.
  2. The immediate soft feel of the lotion. Enough said.
  3. The smell. I love the light smell. I know that some people hate it when their night creams smell good, but I love it! I feel all fresh and clean.

Con:

I feel like I should give you a con, because I just gave you the pros, but it’s a little difficult and I’m seriously going to give you really pathetic cons, that are extremely DE MINIMIS:

  1. Sometimes I’ll wake up and get the urge to put more on since I will feel like my skin has consumed all the product (so maybe what I’m implying is I want it to be thicker?)
  2. I’ll apply a thicker application under my eyes, and instead of being absorbed I’ll get white residue under my eye.
  3. The price point is actually annoying. I hate pay $17.49 for the product.

The only true con is the price, but it is still considerably cheaper than other night creams, so I am going to keep the complaining to a minimum. If you’re interested in trying the product out here is a link: http://www.target.com/p/olay-total-effects-anti-aging-night-firming-treatment-1-7-oz/-/A-10910238

Tell me what you think about! I am curious to know what night creams you guys use, and what night creams worked or did not work for you.

Keep me posted. Xoxo

Who Does Chris Brown Think He Is?

Have you guys heard this song? If I were in college or in high school I would probably listen to this song guilt free, while bopping my head and loving it. Alas, I am not in those stages of my life. I am currently studying for the GA Bar: I am a little older, wiser & more mature.

MY ISSUE/PROBLEM WITH THE SONG:

1) TRIVIALIZES AN ENTIRE GENDER. I am shocked that these dudes would say such demeaning things about WOMEN! I am also shocked that they have 80 Million + views on their YouTube account. I know that slut-ifying women is a common aspect in Rap and Hip-Hop Videos but I guess the course and the whole theme of the song monetizes on calling women “disloyal” and “hoes.”

2) REAL WOMEN ARE IN THE MUSIC VIDEO! These woman are letting these dudes call them “Hoes”, “Disloyal” individuals &, blatantly imply that they are gold diggers. I can understand if these women are just trying to gain employment and if they’re trying to make ends meet, but if they, honestly, are financially stable and had the financial means to deny their participation, then I am seriously questioning their moral character.

3) WILLFUL CAMEO. Usher and Trey Songz made a willful cameo in the music video. I realize that women are actively chasing after these two hip-hop/rap stars, but did they ever think these women are just fans? Who wouldn’t want their superstar crush to give them attention? Shame on them for mistaking their fans admiration for being something deceitful. They should just imagine what it’s it is like being a fan? Can they imagine how special they would feel if they were a regular chick at one of these concerts and a hip-hop star that they admired picked them from a crowd and showered them with attention? Shame on them for taking advantage of their superstar position, and using it just sleep with a countless number of women, and not doing the due diligence to find someone that likes them for them and not for their superstar status. Don’t blame naive, star stricken, fan girls– BLAM YOURSELF.

4) THE MOST DISTURBING ASPECT OF THE SONG IS THAT CHRIS BROWN IS SINGING IT. He just hit Rihanna in the Spring of 2009 and now here he is (again) belittling women. I mean really? Can the court order him to not trash women or sexualize them or treat them like objects? PLEASE.

Done with my rant. I’m not trying to have you hate the song, just, maybe, realize how rude it is? and why/how society has made it so popular and so acceptable to hear a song that literally says “these hoes ain’t loyal”?
