Outfit: Casual

What to order: Goten Tibs Entree

Basic Review: Loved the outdoor seating area. Service was good, not perfect though. I went with 3 other people, and one of my friends did not receive the water he requested for about 20 minutes (which is unacceptable), but minus that hiccup, everything was great, and the staff was incredibly friendly.

Thoughts on Ethiopian food: I had talked to 5 people about it and 3 of them stated they did not like Ethiopian food, two declared they enjoyed it.  I’m happy I tried it out for myself, because I loved it. Also, I think DESTA was the perfect place for me to try Ethiopian food, since it caters to an American palate.

While you’re in the area you should drive two miles on Briarcliff (in the opposite direction of the Highlands) and check out the White House Knock Off (here is the address: 3687 Briarcliff Rd, Atlanta, GA

Talk to you later!

Update!

Hey Friends,

I changed the theme of my blog, and also edited the name a little bit. I think the name will better represent where I would like this blog to go! I hope you’ll continue joining me on my journey!

PSA for ATL restaurants: I would love to feature your restaurant on my blog! Give me a reason & an address – when I’m free I’ll drop by!

Fontaine’s: 1026 1/2 North Highland Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30306

I love Fontaine’s!  Every time I’ve gone, I’ve gotten consistently great service, and trust me I can really, really, really appreciate that! I’m not sure if you know this, but Fontaine’s has weekday happy hour specials– so being in law school, I have the perk of checking them out. Last year I enjoyed an awesome seafood spread of crab legs, shrimp, & oysters!  I loved it!

This year I headed back with some girlfriends. We had an awesome time: talking and munching away. Our server was great (I wish I could give her a shoutout — but I don’t know her name- she was incredibly attentive, even though we just ordered waters and gorged on the happy hour deals).

Here is what we ordered:

Crab Legs!

ImageShrimp Boil! I love getting them & I love making them! They’re an incredibly easy appetizer to make for a dinner party/luncheon/girls night. All you need to do is boil a tablespoon of Old Bay seasoning (per pound of shrimp) , half of lemon and other seasonings you like with a pot full of water. After the water is done boiling add your skin on shrimp! Once the water re-boils remove the shrimp from the pot on to a platter and now you have boiled-peel and eat shrimp!

Have you been to Fontaine’s? Do you love it? Tell me what you think people!

Worst Pizza: Romeo’s New York Pizza (1401-A Oxford Rd NE Atlanta, GA 30307)

Wow, do I have a rant for you! Last night, after enjoying a great brunch,  I thought it would be fun to indulge myself with a slice pizza. If you don’t know me very well, just know I love food and I love pizza. Pizza is so yummy. I mean think about it has everything great going on: cheese, bread, toppings all baked into a gewy, crusty, goodness. Unfortunately, Romeo’s New York Pizza was almost as good as warming up a Totino’s Frozen pizza (which is seriously the worst frozen pizza out there).

First I’ll bash the service, prior to bashing the pizza.

When I walked into the Romeo’s the guy behind the counter was HIGH OR DRUNK, (probably high)  and told me about the LUNCH SPECIALS  (mind you I went at 9 pm!!!!) . Then he slurred a few words together and called the guy behind me in line my LOVER. Next, the other guy behind the counter making or food or assembling it or shall I say taking it out of a freezer and deep frying it (since we ordered mozzarella sticks) was wearing head phones (just plain rude and weird to do on the job).

Now, I’ll bash the Pizza.

Image

(okay i’m going to type this in call caps to purposefully emphasize the screaming) OKAY THIS IS NOT PIZZA YOU IDIOT. THIS IS A SLICE OF TOTINO’S WITH MUSHROOM AND SPINACH ON TOP, REHEATED WITH 8 SHREDS OF MOZZARELLA CHEESE. ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING ME?

Image

Then the crust was burnt (the least of my problems).  I AM SO PISSED that I didn’t go to Slice and Pint. It was right across the street. On another note, the HORRIBLE YELP review are on point with this joint. I know the lunch special is appetizing, but I am serious — wjhy would you waste your calories on this? Why not just drop by Publix and eat a frozen Totino’s or a Tony’s or a Red Baron (it will probably be better and cheaper!).

Restaurant Impossible, if you’re reading this — this HORRIBLE chain needs your help.

Holy Taco: 1314 GLENWOOD AVENUE EAST ATLANTA GA. 30316

ImageImage

Wow, this is my 2nd post where I say i thought the food was okay. I went for a birthday party a while back — the place was okay. I was happy to be celebrating my friends birthday, enjoying the weather & sitting outside. I did NOT enjoy the people buying and selling drugs across the street. I did enjoy the kindness of the staff and that they brought out plates for us to cut a store bought cookie cake that I brought to the venue! Have you been to Holy Taco? I honestly cannot remember what I ordered, but the birthday boy, LOVES this place, along with my foodie boss from over the summer — I’m apparently the only one that thought it was okay….

Bye!

Ted’s Montana Grill: 201 W Ponce De Leon Ave, Decatur, GA 30030

Image

I tried Ted’s Bison Cheese Burger. Would I go back? No. Did I like Bison? I’m not sure. The other items on the menu were good, but the wheat bread didn’t pair well with bison, which needs a more sturdier bread. I hated how huge the the patty was. I wish there were two small patties. Also — a burger, fries and soda (plus tip) was around $19 (so it was a pricy meal– i only ate half — threw the other half away).

Try the pot roast. Just don’t try this!

P.S. Opt to just get onion rings and not go 50/50! The onion rings are SOOOOO good!

Atkins Park: 794 N Highland Ave Atlanta, GA 30306

Have you been to Atkins Park? Because of law school I had only seen the crowded bar portion of the restaurant — when I think of crowded, rowdy, bar, I do not associate it with a great restaurant attached to the other side — and this is EXACTLY what Atkins Park is!

A friend of mine LOVES Atkins Park. After being a tad skeptical, I decided I would check it out. Thank GOD I went! I LOVED the menu  and the food. The service was great and the food was well prepared. I loved my dish. I’m not one to want sweet things, but the pairings of the apple with the North Georgia trout was beautiful and the taste was delicate and not over powering. They ran out of the pot roast the night I went, so my friend ordered the special for the night (I think:  brisket with Vidalia onion and local greens.  We also ordered an awesome pimento cheese appetizer with fried green tomatoes: which I LOVE!!!!!!!

Here are few pictures of our meal:

Thankfully, celery is healthy and has only 6 calories per stalk….

I have a quick fact to insert about Vidalia Onions (great dinner conversation piece): did you know that in order to be a “Vidalia Onion” it needs to be grown by or from Vidalia, Georgia. These onions are trademarked by the United States Patent and Trademark office, so you can’t legally grow a Vidalia onion, or sell it without it actually being from the following thirteen Georgia counties: Emanuel, Candler, Treutlen, Bulloch, Wheeler, Montgomery, Evans, Tattnall, Toombs, Telfair, Jeff Davis, Appling, and Bacon; or portions of the following seven counties: Jenkins, Screven, Laurens, Dodge, Pierce, Wayne, and Long.

I definitely stole a few bites of that sweet Vidalia onion and mashed potatoes.

Loved this! Burbon soaked applies with a North Georgia Trout!

Who doesn’t love a side of mac n’ cheese?

Have a great Monday friends! Also, comment below if you have been to Atkins or are now planning to go!

Oh yeah, what should you wear to Atkins Park? Preppy, casual, bar chic, bar trendy. Do not wear clubbing clothes, or a short tight black dress — you’ll look awkward – or like you are trying too hard. Also don’t dress TOO casual. Example: if you decide to wear a t-shirt, khakis & rainbows — you will look like a fool.

Rosebud Burger (Short Rib and Brisket meat)!

Image

I went into work this past Wednesday and had a great time listening it to a great client meeting with my boss. The client has is a band (incredibly talented) and their father has quite the life story (so wants to figure out a book deal). After the client meeting, my boss suggested we go  and grab some lunch– he suggested Rosebud. If you can remember from a previous post, I had a great experience at RoseBud in October for my birthday! The food and service were great, and, once again, Rosebud did not fail to deliver.

Image

This time I wanted to get the LOBSTER QUICHE! Unforunately, they were sold out! Fortunately, I decided to try the Burger– and O.M.G. IT WAS SO GOOOOOD. I enjoyed half of it as Rosebud, along with a pasta salad. I enjoyed the 2nd half of it for lunch the following day (and it was still amazing)! The burger is juicy, and I devoured every drop of the bbq sauce and I love the caramelized onions and the slice of homemade cheddar (which reminded me of Brie)

Image

My Boss is on the Atkins diet and is trying to get healthy and lose weight for the upcoming holiday season. I admire his commitment to good health. He watches what he eats & runs, yet still gets to enjoy all of the great Atlanta food and drinks. He truly lives a balanced lifestyle.

He ordered a “Dude It’s a Salad”. He LOVED it!

it comes with a Bison burger. Bison meat is leaner than beef and has a higher iron content than beef! It’s truly great meat for my health  conscious friends.

I hope you check out these two dishes at Rosebud. Tell me what you think!

IMG_1777                                         Chicken Tikka Masala

Hey Friends,

Being a law student & a pseudo Atlanta food bloger do not always go hand in hand!  I’ve had a lot on my plate with the MPRE (basically an ethics test you have to take in order to sit for the BAR).  I’m also job hunting for a permanent position — and it’s been a tad stressful and time consuming. I’ve seen a lot of recent graduates graduate WITHOUT a job, but luckily as BAR results come out– I’ve also been seeing a lot of them get jobs (PHEW).

Areas of law I’m interested:

  • Real Estate and Soft IP

Both of these areas really appeal to me. There are A LOT of Indian/Asian Hotel/Motel owners & I would love to work with a firm to facilitate their transactions. I would also love to negotiate on behalf of them to secure favorable provisions. Growing up I moved around a lot and the connection I felt with my homes and spaces near me really molded my identity. For example, when we moved to Greenville, SC, I saw my neighbors houses being developed before my very eyes, I remember running around in them and giving fake tours to the few neighborhood kids that were around (kind of like Egypt from “Property Virgins”).  Right before the recession my parents bought a new house (they over paid), but I remembered thinking– I knew this house wasn’t worth it. If only they consulted me I could have told them my opinions, or at least shed a tear that could have prevented the purchase (I once did that with some formal living room furniture my family purchased — the tears didn’t work, but years later my mother finally admitted that I was “right”. In her defense she wasn’t all wrong).

I like soft IP because I love the arts, and I love the ability art has to change someone’s thoughts. It has the ability to influence someone,  change their perspective or bring touchy subjects to life through subtle means. I’m NOT that artistically creative, but I am like a lioness and if people try to mess with my cubs I’ll bite (my cubs in this analogy would be the artists I’m able to represent)! When I see people selling knockoffs, I’m the girl that actually EMAILS  the company and says “HEY …THIS ____.COM IS SELLING A FAKE URBAN DECAY PALETTE. I DON’T WANT OTHERS TO GET DUPED. TELL THEM TO STOP AND PROTECT YOUR TRADEMARK.” I’ve emailed L’Oréal Paris, Apple, Tiffany’s, etc..

IMG_1781

Right now — I may not be that great at drafting memos or briefs, but I know, with time, I’ll probably get it down to a science — luckily I have something else on my side that is much more powerful than drafting a good brief — I’ve got PASSION. I’m going to run with it until I reach the “finish line”.
