There are SO many beauty vloggers out there — like a ridiculous amount. My favorite vloggers are the ones that really take a lot of time and care into learning the art of making professional looking videos.

All of the effects really amuse me – and I love it when they speed up basic processes. I hate it when they talk forever, although sometimes I enjoy learning more about them.

Teni is my new favorite beauty blogger. I originally started following her, since I was in the market for a new Indian beauty guru who has a similar complexion to me — that way I could wear the same colors as her without wondering if it will suite my skin tone.  I love gurus like Bethany Mota & Michelle Phan –BUT my skin tone is no where near theirs, and my eyes are different: so some of the eye shadow techniques or looks are NOT for me. I have an olive-yellow-ish undertone with a medium/warm complexion (basically I’m a goldish brown color),  I have some serious dark pigmentation under my eyes (so concealer is an essential item in my routine), & I already have big eyes– so I don’t need techniques to make them bigger, or else I’ll look like a walking indian anime doll.

I love more natural looks and everyday glam, as opposed to just CLUB glam, because with law school, everyday glam is more important than club glam (seeing as I rarely “go out” and my now I find myself grab lunch and dinner with good friends).

Teni is great. She isn’t indian, but she is great. She might be two/three shades lighter than me, but her undertone is the same (I think). She is beautiful, she takes care of herself, and is truly a beauty vlogger I feel like I can trust.

I hope you get hooked to her — not a fan of SONA, seeing as she despises the smell of curry – RUDE. I should unsubscribe from SONA, but some of her looks are cute too, and minus the whole curry ordeal, she is okay too, but not as good as Teni!

Who are your favorite beauty vloggers?!

Perfume: Britney Spears and My collection!

Have you heard the new Britney Spears song:

I love this song! It’s incredibly on point. Do you remember not knowing what was going on in a relationship and you have to pretend to play it cool because you don’t want to seem like that crazy girl? Well in the song Britney Spears sticks it to this “girl” who may or may not be real! She says:

have you been thinking ’bout her or about me- And while I wait I put on my perfume, yeah I want it all over you -I gotta mark my territory

All of this perfume talk gets me thinking of my scents and how the smell lingers on my friends. I always have a few bottles of perfumes–so depending on my mood or the occasion I pick my scent! The three perfumes I currently own are:

  1. COCO MADEMOISELLE PARFUM ($115): Such a classic scent. I love it, it sticks on my clothes and can be detected as I pass through doors — and people always know the distinct smell of Coco!
  2. MARC JACOBS FRAGRANCE Daisy ($70): I wear this to school (almost) everyday! It’s fun and playful. I’m not sure if it sticks on my clothes? Definitely more floral and chic.
  3. RALPH LAUREN Ralph ($67.50): I use to wear this in college EVERY single day! I loved it i mainly use it when i want to appear fun or if i’m going out! i love the smell — I wouldn’t wear it to an interview, but i would wear it out  to dinner with friends or going to the mall!

I own the rollers versions of:

  1. RALPH LAUREN Ralph ($20)
  2. RALPH LAUREN Romance ($20)
  3. STELLA MCCARTNEY ($?)

I love roll-ons! They’re awesome — they fit perfectly in your purse and you can always smell great when things get a little hot and sweaty. Who doesn’t love a fresh smelling girl?

Cafe Alsace

Have you been to Cafe Alsace? I recently went there and I ordered the lunch special, which was a crepe filled with lamb, feta and grains(?) with a side of a mushroom (cream based) soup. Yum.

IMG_1762

I enjoyed my meal (not the best meal — but still yummy) and I loved the soup  (I’m a sucker for soups).

Pros:

  • hole in the wall joint
  • intimate
  • perfect for lunch
  • owner had pretty blue eyes, was polite and nice (also has an accent- LOVE)

Cons:

  • one person working the room.
  • had to wait a considerable amount of time until my glass was refilled w/water
  • did not inquire about what I wanted to drink

What should you wear when dining for lunch:

  • don’t wear your gym clothes
  • don’t need to dress up
  • don’t wear stilettos
  • midtown attire would look odd here!
  • sun dress, business casual, or school clothes

Venue great for:

  • first casual date
  • cheese platter with girlfriends
  • latte’s with mom or dad

Restaurant Shout Out: Rosebud

Loved my experience at Rosebud. The waitress was incredibly kind, along with the supporting staff. I ordered the crab cake benedict soft poached eggs, remoulade & hollandaise and my friend ordered fried oysters & grits (w/o bacon & extra oysters for my Kosher/Halal friends), benne seed chicken gravy & poached egg.

Both items were good. Not giving this place 5 stars, since I thought the potatoes were TOO salty (over seasoned) and the benne seed chicken gravy was a tad to tart and sweet. I’d give it 4.5 stars. I’m definitely going back — also definitely ordering a side of grits, since they were perfect!

This place is trendy so dress up. Ladies feel free to wear a maxi when the weather is hot. Fellas please no graphic tees, or punk-ish street wear — I would stick to khakis and a polo or jeans and a plain v-neck — feel free to dress business casual!

Maxi Dresses

My best friends visited me this memorial day weekend! I took them to them to this beautiful park. We love doing outdoorsy things, and we also LOVE getting dressed up– so this park was perfect for us! It had beautiful mini bridges and plenty of benches of us to sit and relax. The weather was perfect, and the trees were sky tall, blocking the hot Georgia sun.

My Maxi Dress is from Urban Outfitters. I LOVE IT! I have worn it several times since purchasing it. It’s extremely light and still very opaque. The little splash of neon makes it a fun dress for day OR night! I bought it for $25-$30 on sale this past OCTOBER!

LOVE!

Park Picnic!

I absolutely love picnics! They’re my favorite part of the spring and summer season.  I just went on one yesterday– the weather was in the high 70’s, a little windy, great company & not to crowded. I couldn’t have been any happier. We enjoyed drunken goat & manchego cheese, a baguette, curried chicken salad, & tiramisu!

All of the treats were from Alon’s!  The tiramisu was perfect: light, not to sweet, and an awesome mixture of flavors.

Want to look cute for class?

Life as a graduate student means putting in the hours all day- everyday, even the weekend while you’re visiting your best friend. The outfit featured here consists of: Green Studded Pants from H&M ($39), GAP Jean Jacket ($30) , White sheer shirt from Marshalls ($10 or $14), Steve Madden Sandals ($30 Summer 2012), Ralph Lauren Aviators from Century 21 ($30) & MK watch.

This outfit looks effortless & so cute! The weather outside was in the mid 70’s, but the library was in the mid 60’s, so it was an excellent idea to layer up!

A Night Out!

A Night Out!

The girl to the left is wearing:

Forever 21 Eyelet Dress ($30) and Statement Necklace ($12). Black Nine West kitten heels ($60),  Black Forever 21 purse ($22-30 -I think. Also, I love this purse. it’s so versatile & spacious, but at the same time SMALL!) I wore a light Banana Republic jacket ($55).

The girl to the right is wearing a Forever 21 dress, Pearl earrings,  Nude suede Aldo Shoes ($30)  & a Tory Burch messenger bag!

More Details and Ideas:

I purchased the white dress to wear to an Easter brunch, unfortunately, this year I had no time to attend an Easter brunch, but I did get to wear the white dress to meet my friends parents for dinner on Easter weekend Saturday. The dress came with an orange/brown hue belt, I decided to replace that belt with a skinny black belt, and wore it with a light black cardigan, black flats & black purse. The dress was a hit! I just posted this picture on Instagram and my friends commented saying how much they loved the dress.

When I wore this dress out for Tapas and Drinks I decided to NOT wear a belt, and instead sport a statement necklace (since you can only do one thing at a time, or else it looks like WAY too much is going on). Again, same dress different presentation and still a hit!  When I went to another bar some of the patrons actually thought I came from a wedding (so, I guess this means maybe I can sneak in the dress to a spring wedding)!

Enjoy!

OOTN: Flapper

I recently went to a 1922 Great Gatsby themed Casino Night.  Dressing up was optional, but I absolutely love themed events &  I had all of these items laying around, so yeah —  I, obviously, dressed up! I always like to stay more conservative when dressing up for Graduate school events. I’m at an age in life where your actions and attire speak about you as an individual. Dressing conservatively, can still be cute and this is a perfect example. The only part of my body which is exposed are my arms. I want my classmates and future coworkers to take me seriously when we are in class and/or working together in the future. I think upholding certain characteristics, even when you’re having fun, is key to branding yourself.

The First Post

Hello,

A year ago, when I started law school, my business clothes were extremely frumpy and uncoordinated. I was not sure where creativity could be placed in my business attire. I wanted to feel beautiful, without pushing the envelope or taking attention off of my work product. Over the course of a year and a half, I have discovered that there is room for creativity.

I am pursuing law school and want to practice law in my future. While practicing law, I also want to run a blog about my fashion experiences as I move forward in my career. My advice  and styling techniques will remain appropriate and relevant for the young professional who wants to be taken seriously.

My continuous experiences at firms, government entities, business meetings, class and social settings, allow me to give you advice about styling and putting looks together for the more professional you. Nowadays everyone is a brand. I want to make sure that you are the best brand YOU can be!

I hope you enjoy my work.

P.S. I’ll also use this blog to talk a LOT about food!
